Pin-Parvati Pass Trek
A Classic High Altitude Trans-Landscape Trek.
Parvati Valley lies in Kullu region and Pin Valley is in Spiti, a high altitude cold desert.
About the trek
This route was discovered by Loius Dane in late 19th century and connects Parvati Valley with Pin Valley, Hence the name Pin-Parvati Pass. This is a long, tough and high altitude trek that takes one from a valley full of greenery into serene wilderness away from civilization, and ends in a region which is a cold desert!
The trek starts initially on right bank of Parvati river, proceeding to Kheerganga ( known for hot springs and temple ), where on the trail switches to left bank. Moving through a mix of forest and some meadows and some stream crossings we reach Tunda Bhuj. Enroute Odi Thach, there are two natural rock bridges, called Pandu Pul, believed as per legend, to have been constructed by Pandavs. Next we will move towards Mantalai a high altitude lake at around 4100 m altitude, and believed to be the source of Parvati river. Base camp on Parvati valley side is at around 4600 m after which the route is on moraine and galcier terrain, until we cross the 5315 m high Pin-Parvati pass, and descend on the Pin Valley side of the pass. Two days after descending on Pin side of the pass we reach Mudh where this long voyage ends!, Not exactly, your road journey back home is going to be scenic and adventurous in its own way as you take either the Kunzum - Rohtang - Manali route back or Kinnaur - Shimla route
