About the trek
Resting in the lap of mighty Himalayan range in Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh (India), Baspa Valley (more popularly known as 'Sangla Valley') is a nature lover's delight. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful valleys that you would ever have come across in The Himalayas. Intoxicating views of snow clad peaks towering above 6000 meters, cedar and pine forests, apple orchards, and aqua green Baspa river mesmerize you in no time. This trek not only gives you an opportunity to explore the mesmerizing natural beauty of Sangla Valley, but as we move through the villages you also get to interact with natives and get an insight into Kinnauri traditions and lifestyle.
Sangla - Batseri - Rakcham - Chitkul - Sangla
Day '0' Journey to Sangla
Reach Sangla by evening and have at least a proper night's sleep after long travel before you start trekking the next day. Also good for acclimatization. For travel guidance see 'How To Reach' section below. We can help arrange transport till Sangla for you.

Day 1 Sangla - Batseri ~3 hours
We start with some local sightseeing around Sangla village, and walk towards Batseri through beautiful valley. Batseri, though a village, is a planned village! You'll understand and appreciate it more when you are actually there. Camp overnight

Day 2 Batseri - Rakcham 3 - 4 hours
Trek towards Rakcham (pronounced 'Rakchham'). Rakcham is on right bank of Baspa and at an altitude ~3000 m . It is dotted with fields of local grains Ogla and Fafra (similar to buckwheat) which are not only highly nutritious but also add a unique charm to the scenery.

Day 3 Rakcham - Chitkul. ~ 5 hours
This part of the valley is mesmerizingly beautiful and leaves behind indelible memories in your mind. Can not be described in words. Since the road has now been built in place of old trails, we proceed through the road itself. However there is hardly any sign of human interference except the road itself! The route is isolated and peaceful, passing through forests and fields and wide open valley. Slope is gradual. In approx 5 hours we reach Chitkul, which is the last village in this direction. It appears as if you have reached a different world altogether

Day 4 Explore Chitkul. In evening, Chitkul - Sangla (by vehicle)
This day is to explore Chitkul and surroundings by short mini treks. In evening we reach back Sangla by vehicle.

Reaching Trek Base - Sangla
Sangla, is in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh and around 240 km ( ~ 9 hours by road) from Shimla.
